About Sew What?
Sew What? teaches hand sewing in primary schools, and hosts hand and machine sewing clubs from our Sew What? Studio in West London.
Our aim is to inspire children of any age and gender to sew with proper needles and plenty of creativity.
Fiona Parker founded Sew What? in 2013 by starting out teaching a lunchtime hand sewing club at her daughter’s primary school. Word quickly spread as to how enjoyable her classes were and now Sew What? run classes in several primary and secondary schools across West London.
In 2017 we opened a dedicated sewing studio in Twickenham. In 2018 we launched our Sewing Machine Kits. We found that new and enthusiastic sewing machine owners were at a loss of what to do with their sparkly new machines. Disappointed by the quality and scope of regular kits, we created simple, beautiful and useful Sewing Machine Kits in playful colourways. Each kit helps new sewing machine owners to master vital skills: boosting their creative confidence, a world of creativity opens up.
In September 2019 we were honoured to be selected by Kirsty Allsopp appearing as part of New Maker Of The Year at the Handmade Festival.
