Booking terms
In a nutshell: pay in full to secure a place. If your child can’t start, tell us before the first session for a full refund. Once term has begun we can’t refund, but we’ll always help your child catch up or carry on at home.
1. Who these terms are with
These terms are between you and Sew-What Online Limited, trading as Sew What? (“we”). We’re registered in England and Wales, company number 11602810, registered office 4 Vicarage Road, Teddington TW11 8EZ. Our studio is on Bedford Road, Twickenham TW2 5EW.
These terms cover school sewing clubs, studio classes and Duke of Edinburgh packages booked on this website. Clubs booked through a school (such as The Mall and Daisy Roots) follow that school’s terms.
2. Booking and paying
- You book as the child’s parent or carer and must be 18 or over.
- Your place is confirmed when payment goes through and you receive a confirmation email. Unpaid bookings are released after 35 minutes.
- Prices are shown per club or class and include all materials. The project your child makes is theirs to keep.
- Bookings for a club close when its first session starts. If you’d like to join later, contact us and we’ll see if there’s room.
- If a club is full you can join the waiting list. If a place comes up we’ll email you a link to book it, held for 48 hours.
3. Your right to cancel
Because clubs and classes run on set dates, the usual 14-day cooling-off period for online purchases doesn’t apply. Instead, our own policy is:
School clubs
- Before the first session: if your child can no longer start, tell us and we’ll refund you in full.
- Booked twice by mistake: we’ll refund the duplicate.
- Once term has begun: we can’t give refunds, as places, staff and materials are committed for the term. We’ll give you the project so your child can carry on at home.
- Missed sessions (illness, school trips, clashes): we can’t offer an extra session or a refund, as the club still runs for the rest of the group that day, but we always help them catch up.
Studio classes and Duke of Edinburgh
- Moving a class: reply to your confirmation email at least 24 hours before and we’ll move it to another free time.
- Cancelling with at least 24 hours’ notice: full refund.
- Less than 24 hours’ notice or no-show: no refund.
- Duke of Edinburgh packages: refundable before the first class. After that, unused classes can be moved but not refunded.
4. If we have to cancel
If we cancel a session (for example teacher illness or the school closing the room), we’ll run a catch-up session. If we cancel a whole club or class before it starts, you’ll get a full refund. Refunds go back to the card you paid with, normally within 14 days.
5. Your child’s details
- Please tell us about any medical needs, allergies or additional needs when you book, and let us know if anything changes.
- For school clubs, this information is included on the register we give to the school and our teachers, so everyone looking after your child knows. For studio classes, only our teacher sees it.
- We delete children’s details shortly after the term or class ends. Our privacy notice explains more.
6. Dropping off and collecting
- Lunchtime clubs: children come to us from class and go back to class afterwards.
- After-school clubs: we’ll ask who collects your child. We’ll only hand your child to that person unless you tell us otherwise. If nobody arrives, we follow the school’s late-collection procedure.
- Studio classes: we’ll ask who collects your child. We’ll only hand your child to that person unless you tell us otherwise. If nobody arrives, we’ll call you.
7. Safety and behaviour
Our teachers are DBS-checked and insured, and we follow our safeguarding policy (available on request). Sewing uses needles, pins, scissors and, in the studio, sewing machines; children must follow the teacher’s instructions.
If a child’s behaviour puts themselves or others at risk, we’ll talk to you first and, if it can’t be resolved, may ask that they don’t continue. If that happens, we’ll refund any unused sessions.
8. Photos
We sometimes take photos of children’s work and of sessions. We only use photos showing your child if you said yes when booking. You can change your mind at any time by emailing us.
9. Prices and changes
We may change prices for future terms but never for a booking you’ve already paid for. If we change these terms, the version that applied when you booked still applies to that booking.
10. Questions or complaints
Email fiona@sew-what.online and we’ll reply within a couple of working days. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
